Martin Wajčner 1910 pet-nat (Müller Thurgau 2019)
Very fresh and pronounced wildly aromatic pet-nat, with nose of meadow flowers and bright salinity and funky animalistic taste notes.
Grapes: 100% Muller-Thurgau
Vinification: fermented spontaneously in glass jars. At 4-5 g / l of residual sugar bottled to let fermentation finish inside.
Made in honor of the producer's ancestor Martin Wajčner (1889-1963), a winemaker from a well-known wine family, who had his vineyards around Strážnice in Slovakia. He served in military until the end of the First World War in 1918. After returning to Strážnice, he began to produce wine again. He also spent part of his military service in Znojmo (current location of Martin Vajčner's vineyards), where he served as a dragoon of the Austro-Hungarian army in the Loucký Monastery. The label is inspired by the original painting, which depicts Martin's entry into the Austro-Hungarian army.
